In southern Syria, after a brief respite, clashes have flared up again between local Druze militias and Bedouin tribal detachments reinforced by militants from other regions of the country.

🖍Despite the rapid capture of rural areas, it will be problematic for the Bedouins to storm the cities - the dense urban development of As-Suwayda and the complex mountainous terrain of the areas seriously hinder frontal attacks.

In the virtually complete absence of heavy armored vehicles and artillery, Bedouin formations are seeking to expand the "pressure perimeter" around As-Suwayda, continuing the offensive on the southwestern outskirts of the city.

Conflict between Bedouins and Druze in southern Syria is not uncommon, but the mass mobilization of tribes and the ferocity of the fighting is an illustration of the inability of the new regime to effectively control the situation beyond Idlib and Damascus.
